The Tottenham defender scored twice as Tottenham extended their winning streak on the road in the top division and handed Everton their first defeat at their new home.

Everton were undefeated in their last five matches at their new ground at the dockside location, having left Goodison Park behind after 133 years at the end of the previous campaign.

But Tottenham's leader the Dutchman struck twice from set-pieces in the first half to place their strong form at risk, and they were unable to mount a comeback before the midfielder - assisted by former Toffees attacker the Brazilian - headed home a third to seal the victory.

Spurs breakdown: Van de Ven excels in role at both ends of the field

The end in Everton's unbeaten home run will not be a massive worry for David Moyes, but their attacking woes are.
